KIA MOTORS New Zealand released the below Press release November 2020
Anticipation is growing as Kia prepares for the arrival of its brand new small SUV in New Zealand – the Kia Stonic.
An advance shipment lands in here at the end of November and will be rushed to dealers around the country to provide test drive opportunities ahead of the arrival of customer vehicles in the New Year.
The introductory price of just $21,990 including GST (+on-road costs) has generated strong interest in the new Kia Stonic.
With its sleek muscular body, sporty compact styling, surprising roominess, exceptional handling and sparkling performance, the new Kia Stonic is viewed as an exciting small SUV created for a bigger life.
“Stonic is a fun vehicle that brings fresh excitement to the crossover experience and we are all looking forward to the arrival of that first shipment of vehicles,” says Todd McDonald, Managing Director of Kia Motors New Zealand.
The imminent arrival of the new Stonic marks another highlight for Kia in the New Zealand market, following the introduction of the Seltos compact SUV and the recently launched Sorento large SUV, both showcasing the exciting new face of Kia. Together with the best-selling Sportage, and recently updated Niro Hybrid/EV, the growing Kia SUV range continues to be received with open arms by the Kiwi motoring public.
The new Kia Stonic will be offered with either a 1.4-litre naturally aspirated engine matched to a smooth 6-speed automatic, or a sporty 1-litre turbocharged petrol engine that puts its power to the ground through a 7-speed dual clutch transmission.
Stonic benefits from a range of high-tech safety features developed by Kia under its Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS) programme, with many of them standard across the range. That includes the Forward Collision Avoidance Assist system, which recognises pedestrians and cyclists, as well as cars. Smart Cruise Control is standard from the EX model up, and all models come with a rear view camera displaying dynamic guidelines.
Every Stonic is designed to stand out on the road with a choice of nine refreshingly bold and lively colours, including a $500 two-tone black roof option. Top models also get LED fog lights and LED headlights for additional driving safety.
Sitting on a long 2,580mm wheelbase, the new 2021 Kia Stonic will provide one of the roomiest passenger cabins in the small SUV class. Interior features include a next generation 8-inch audio-visual multimedia touchscreen fitted to all Stonic variants, with satellite navigation available on higher specification models.
